No doubt you’ve all seen or heard the hullabaloo around Ye Olde Intertubes in the days and weeks following our beloved Derpy’s named appearance in the FIM episode The Last Roundup.  What began as a campaign by trolls wreak havoc was soon picked up by well-meaning-but-misguided bronies and fans.  The controversy stems from the mistaken belief that the word “derpy” is synonymous with mentally challenged.  Obviously, it’s not.  Rather it means clutzy or accident prone.  Further, fans maintained that her slightly-husky voice in the episode was an attempt to mock people with learning disabilities.  Again, untrue.  Voiced by actor Tabitha St. Germain, Derpy was mistakenly thought to be a boy pony and was based on a young boy who lives next door to Ms. St. Germain.

This tempest in a teapot stirred up around the fandom has now exploded into what seems to be a PR-pushback by Hasbro.  While much of the recent actions around Derpy and The Last Roundup are themselves still cloaked in rumor and conjecture, at this point it seems that the episode has been taken down from Itunes.  Further, it appears that super-awesome T-Shirt company We Love Fine has been given the directive to drop their Derpy shirts, at the very least, featuring Derpy’s name.

Enough is, frankly, enough.  We can’t allow trolling and misplaced butthurt to tarnish the reputation of our beloved, wall-eyed Pegasus.  We fans have a special love for Derpy, and it was a moment of wonder and joy when our friends at Studio B named her and featured her based on our feedback and support.  Now it’s our turn to step up and do what’s right.

Head over to We Love Fine and support our favorite clumsy pony by  purchasing one of the lovely and well-made Derpy designs  Let’s show Hasbro that we support Derpy and we don’t want them to change a hair on her adorable little head.

If you can’t afford a shirt right now, then do your part and contact We Love Fine and Hasbro, and let them know how much you love and support Derpy.  Don’t let the parasprites win.  This is the time to stand up and show your support for Derpy and our friends at Studio B.

UPDATE- Normally I don't put much stock in internet petitions, but in this case it seems a valid way to make, if not our voices, our number known- www.change.org/petitions/hasbr…

UPDATE2- Just to avoid saying the same thing  repeatedly in replies- No, nothing is 100% confirmed right now, but what I've posted today is based on NEW information from within the past two or three hours- and it looks pretty damn reliable.  That said, even if nothing is actually happening, it doesn't change the fact that plenty of angry, misguided, or outright trolling individuals have made it a point to voice their displeasure to our friends at Hasbro and are directing plenty of negativity towards the  cast and crew at Studio B.  This is our chance to counteract that- whether it's preemptive or a response to current events isn't the point, rather it's a matter of showing support for the character, the great people at We Love Fine,  and the amazing, wonderful artists who bring us Friendship is Magic.  We do that by supporting them with both our numbers and wallets.
