I've made several guest appearances on podcasts lately discussing the latest 100 megaton drama bomb to hit our community, codenamed Equestria Girls. Don't worry, me borthers (and sisters.) Your humble narrator has no interest in rehashing the history of the animated film. At this point we all know what it is, quite a few of us have seen it, and most all of us have made up our minds one way or t'other.

What I do want to talk about is a subject I bring up frequently in interviews- the comparison between the Equestria Girls as a brand and toy line and it's spiritual cousin Monster High. While its not something I participate in with near the time commitment or veracity of MLP, I am a HUGE fan of Monster High. As a lifelong horror fan and borderline gothy-type girl, I was certainly baited by the dolls when they first came out. However, the hook wasn't well and truly set until the lovely

Ahem... and we're all keenly aware that the entire Equestria Girls brand is built around the idea of Hasbro wanting a piece of the wildly successful Monster High doll market. Many MLP fans throw around the comparison to Monster High with the assumption that MH is essentially on par with, say, Bratz (there is a z in there isn't there? Like LIMOZEEN!) and thus it's the association with Monster High that is damaging My Little Pony.
The truth is, however, that Monster High is the most popular toy line in the world right now because of very specific reasons. Hasbro's approach to Equestria Girls isn't bad simply because of the Monster High aesthetic but in fact they're missing out on all the key points that have made MH an incredibly well-designed, high quality, and intricately themed successful toy line.
Over the next few days I'd like to look at three of my favorite Monster High dolls and demonstrate just what it is about them that I personally find so exciting and fun and that make them truly revolutionary in terms of not only girl's toys but toys in general. Tomorrow I'll start by looking at my personal favorite character, Ghoulia Yelps, a zombie and the smartest girl...ah, GHOUL in Monster High! The particular doll I'll be looking at is one of the cheaper versions on the market, Skull Shores bathing suit Ghoulia. After that we'll look at Skelita Calveras, a Dia de Los Muertos-themed skeleton from the Scaris: City of Frights line and the following day we'll close with Jinafire Long, a golden dragon also from City of Frights.

You may not have heard, but Flintheart Glomgold bought Twitter and immediately attempted to mate with it. Things aren't going well there and, frankly, we are all expect the place to collapse in on itself like the Poltergeist house any moment now. Kath Soucie Autograph
Another tiny dream come true! I received a package from the amazing, incredible and legendary Kath Soucie, voice of Fifi, Morgana, Lola Bunny and so many other classic cartoon characters! She sent me a beautiful personal letter, a signed postcard and autographed two pieces of my Fifi art!
I'm at a loss for words! This is something I've dreamed of since I was knee high to a skunk!
Now it's just a matter of framing the art and hanging it in my studio and office!

Wise words from a guy who did a thing. And so, I too, decided to do a thing. A Ko-Fi Thing. I set it up, added some art and if you'd like to toss a tip my way for the stuff I do or just because you like my sparkling personality, now you can!I should point out that this isn't a place to request commissions. I almost never take commissions because my schedule is stressful 24/7/365. It makes me feel bad that I'm almost never able to say yes to the ideas and requests of friends and fans, and I am sorry! Hopefully someday!

New Magica Ducktales Cel
Here's my LOVELY new cel from OG Ducktales, specifically the classic episode Magica's Shadow War.
As you can see, this cel is METAL AF due to the bigass pentagram in Magica's house! In the episode, the scenes with it are cropped and scenery covers much of the magic symbol.
As the Satanic Panic was in full swing during the 80s, it's kind of amazing Disney animators even thought they could get away with this! I love this cel so much. It's a beautiful piece, but the weird history behind it makes it that much more wonderful!
Next step is to get it framed and add it to my office wall!

The books are my favorite. The author of them made the Clique series I believe, so they are very interesting, and has some really neat teen drama in them that makes the books more interesting.
