Things have been so busy busy busy this week I totally forgot to ask everyone what they thought of the latest My Little Smallhorse epic Daring Don't! I understand it ruffled a few pony feathers but overall the reception seems to have been mostly positive. I think most of us looked at that frumpy pre-release image of A.K. Yearling and guessed at the reveal, but I was expecting her to be an older pony writing of her exploits during her adventure-filled youth. I was pretty surprised when it turned out she not only WAS Daring Do but she IS Daring Do and smack-dab in the middle of shenanigans.
I think my favorite bit was simply the commentary on fandoms and fan-worship. Dash and Twilight's argument over esoteric facts from the series was spot on, as was Dash's bordering-on-creepy adoration of Daring. But, like all fan-creator-literary character come-to-life relationships it's symbiotic. We need our heroes to worship and follow like a nerdy religion and they need us to support their efforts, cheer them on and- occasionally- help them save the from supervillains plucked from Aztec mythology!
As always, I'm anxious to hear what everyone else thinks! Is Daring Don't an instant classic or destined for a big red sticker and the bargain bin at Books N' Stuff?
Before I sign off for this week, I have news on the fancy book boxes! I know plenty of folks still want a replica book under their Hearth's Warming Tree. Mr. Kitties and I are endeavoring to get more boxes up on Etsy this coming Monday! I will probably post the new books right around noon. We plan on having the original horse-head version along with one or possibly two new designs based on the poll results.
Keep an eye on my DA Journal, Twitter and Tumblr and of course Etsy for the sales to go live! As before, these things require A LOT of work and especially time. We'll only have a few in stock and I expect they'll go fast (last time all six sold in around ten minuets) so if you want one don't hesitate! These will probably be the last I can conceivably have ready to ship in time for Christmas.

Well gosh! It's been a long time, DeviantArt. How have you been? Terrible? Well, me too! In fact, that's what brings me back here. You may not have heard, but Flintheart Glomgold bought Twitter and immediately attempted to mate with it. Things aren't going well there and, frankly, we are all expect the place to collapse in on itself like the Poltergeist house any moment now. So, I figured I maybe using DeviantArt a bit more in our rapid-onset Dystopian future. With that in mind, I wanted to let you all know that I still live (please hold applause) and still have access to this account...apparently! Kath Soucie Autograph
Another tiny dream come true! I received a package from the amazing, incredible and legendary Kath Soucie, voice of Fifi, Morgana, Lola Bunny and so many other classic cartoon characters! She sent me a beautiful personal letter, a signed postcard and autographed two pieces of my Fifi art!
I'm at a loss for words! This is something I've dreamed of since I was knee high to a skunk!
Now it's just a matter of framing the art and hanging it in my studio and office!
Ko-Fi is a thing, so I made one!

I set it up, added some art and if you'd like to toss a tip my way for the stuff I do or just because you like my sparkling personality, now you can!I should point out that this isn't a place to request commissions. I almost never take commissions because my schedule is stressful 24/7/365. It makes me feel bad that I'm almost never able to say yes to the ideas and requests of friends and fans, and I am sorry! Hopefully someday!

New Magica Ducktales Cel
Here's my LOVELY new cel from OG Ducktales, specifically the classic episode Magica's Shadow War.
As you can see, this cel is METAL AF due to the bigass pentagram in Magica's house! In the episode, the scenes with it are cropped and scenery covers much of the magic symbol.
As the Satanic Panic was in full swing during the 80s, it's kind of amazing Disney animators even thought they could get away with this! I love this cel so much. It's a beautiful piece, but the weird history behind it makes it that much more wonderful!
Next step is to get it framed and add it to my office wall!

I think it would have been a better episode if it had gone exactly how it did, except for the last minute it pans out to Rainbow Dash reading her self-insert Daring Do fanfic to the mane6+spike, and Twilight just ends by saying "Daring Do Real? Really?"
